Waste & Recycling

Waste and Recycling is responsible for pickup and transporting nearly 5000 of waste and 4000 tons of recyclable materials per year away from campus.

The UW is proud to be among the leaders in the Big Ten in Recycling and Composting. Recycling everything from asphalt to books and pre/post-consumer food scraps to scrap metal has become the norm for this versatile department. We continue to improve and grow our recycling and composting programs, including a new initiative to establish a compost-only (nothing-to- the-landfill) Big Ten football game.
